In mid-May, Phongsupthavy Group Co., Ltd. (Lao PDR) and Altervim Co., Ltd. (Kingdom of Thailand) a subsidiary of the Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly develop clean energy projects in the Lao PDR. This initiative encompasses hydropower, wind energy, and solar power, alongside investments in AI, data centers, and digital infrastructure to support ASEAN's transition toward a green and digital economy. The prestigious ceremony was honored by the presence of His Excellency Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, Standing Member of the Government, and Chairman of the Central Committee for Investment Promotion and Management. Also in attendance were the Chairman of the Economic, Technology and Environment Committee of the National Assembly, Vice Ministers from relevant ministries, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Managing Director of Electricité du Laos (EDL) and the delegation, as well as executive teams from both parties. Mr. Phongsavath Senaphuan, Chairman of Phongsupthavy Group Co., Ltd., emphasized Laos' vision of becoming the "Battery of Southeast Asia." Meanwhile, Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, Chairman of Altervim Co., Ltd. and Chairman & CEO of Arizes Ventures Group Co., Ltd., highlighted that this partnership strengthens regional cooperation and positions the Lao PDR as a clean energy hub. This collaboration underscores the growing roles of the Lao PDR and the Kingdom of Thailand in driving energy security, sustainability, and digital transformation across ASEAN. It integrates energy, technology, and future industries to build a sustainable regional economy.
